French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have developed ‘Tyde’, a family of height-adjustable tables for Vitra. Incorporating special features to address the acoustic challenges of today’s open plan offices, tyde extends the concept of modular furniture to offer the benefits of working while standing and sitting to double workstations and conference tables. A quiet electric height adjustment motor is incorporated and concealed under the table beneath a sound-absorbing cover. In addition, the newly developed screens in acoustic polyester fleece work effectively with the cover to dampen ambient noise.
