We swear by Chase Jarvis' saying, "the best camera is the one that's with you, primarily because we're too lazy to lug around a two and a half pound D800 with us everywhere, and it doesn't hurt that our iPhones pack a half decent camera. While there are some blatant hardware limitations to this approach, we've resorted to add-on lenses to get more control over our shots. The Olloclip sports 3 interchangeable lens configurations: flip from the 180 degree fisheye on one side to the wide-angle (that doubles the field of view) on the other, or unscrew the wide-angle and get access to the 10X macro.
